The medical definition of AsepsisTM is "The state of being free of pathogenic organisms," or, in other words, the state of being free from any contamination.
But in the health and wellness context, we think of AsepsisTM as the state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or weakness.
Simply stated, it comprises of health information and guidelines that are based on scientific research. Evidence-based health refers to health and wellness strategies designed to deliver specific, measurable health outcomes.
According to the United States National Institute of Health (NIH)*, there is a considerable gap between what research shows is effective and the health policies that are enacted and enforced. In fact, only 6.5% of the health guidelines provided details that the recommendation was based on scientific information. Since unproven guidelines can do more harm than good, health and wellness recommendations must be made on scientific and evidence-based research. This is the foundation of AsepsisLife.
Our mission statement is to make best available, peer reviewed, scientific data work towards community and individual health and wellness goals. We will share only those guidelines and tools that are based on science- and evidence-based health and approved by credentialed members of the scientific community.
